My family and I booked a tour with Francisco at Awesome Tours for a second time this year, and it did not disappoint. This tour was a complete cultural representation of Mayan living. We were traveling over the Christmas break and were able to visit a Mayan family, share a meal with them, have an authentic Shaman ceremony and shop at their home for hand made items. We also sampled local juices including Chaya Green Juice that Francisco bought, and went to several of the local shops along the way.
This tour also consisted of the Coba Mayan Ruins which were fantastic as well as a private Cenote that was unspoiled and truly one of the most breathtaking places we have been, which is saying a lot as we have traveled extensively.
By far the best part about this tour was our part at Tankah (although nearly a tie with the secret Cenote). Tankah is a eco park with swimming, canoeing, zip lining, cliff jumping, but its not commercialized and it's Mother Nature at its best. I can't believe after traveling to Mexico for 15 years I have never been here.
The best part about Awesome tours is the private nature of the tours. Francisco goes above and beyond to make sure there are no crowds, each place was timed impeccably. We never saw more than a couple of people, if any at all at each stop. Francisco is bilingual making booking easy as well. This was our third tour with him, highly recommended. If you have questions about tours with this company feel free to direct message me. You will not be disappointed, his tours are worth every penny.
